Kings holding court yet again

MAINTAINING their unbeaten start to the season, the Sydney Kings recorded an impressive 94-79 win over the Brisbane Bullets at Qudos Bank Arena on Saturday night.

Sydney’s 5-0 win-loss record equals its best start to a season since 2008, while Will Weaver is just the second coach in the past 30 years to win his first five NBL games.
Casper Ware was Sydney’s leading scorer with 17 points, while reigning MVP Andrew Bogut was once again impressive, tallying 12 points, 11 rebounds and four assists.
Brisbane showed some grit toward the end, helped by the ejection of Bogut early in the fourth quarter for committing his second unsportsmanlike foul of the game.
As the Kings look to cover the loss of injured star guard Kevin Lisch, NBL Next Star Didi Louzada was also impressive for the Kings on the offensive end, hitting six-of-nine shots to amass 14 points.
Shaun Bruce also stepped up with 12 points, Daniel Kickert finished with 11 points and Jae’Sean Tate contributed 10 points, six rebounds and three assists.
The Bullets outscored the Kings 27-23 in the final 10 minutes, but the game was well out of reach by then and they never truly threatened after intermission.
Sydney now heads into a tough Round Five road double travelling to meet the Adelaide 36ers on Saturday before a Melbourne Cup Eve blockbuster on Monday against Melbourne United at Melbourne Arena.
The Kings’ next home game is against the defending NBL champion Perth Wildcats on Sunday, November 10, at Qudos Bank Arena.
