The season caps off a stellar year for Bulldogs’ five-eighth Burton, who after debuting for the NSW Blues in the 2022 State of Origin series, will join 12 other debutants to pull on the green and gold in the end-of-season international tournament.
Winger Addo-Carr will cherish his time in Australian colours after a successful stint with the Prime Minister’s XIII against Papua New Guinea a week ago.
The Australian Kangaroos will face Fiji on October 15 at Headingley Stadium, Leeds, in their World Cup opener before facing Scotland on Friday, October 21, followed by the final Pool B fixture against Italy on Saturday, October 29 at Totally Wicked Stadium, St Helens.
ARLC Chairman Mr Peter V’landys AM congratulated the players on their selection.
“They should be very proud as there is no greater honour than to put on the green and gold of Australia,” he said.
“The Kangaroos have not played since 2019 so it will be an important moment when these players step onto the field in the United Kingdom.”
Win selection for World Cup
THE Bulldogs’ Josh Addo-Carr and Matt Burton have been named in the Australian Kangaroos squad to tackle the Rugby League World Cup held in England from October 15 to November 19.
