Strike Force Shaula, formed by the State Crime Command’s Raptor Squad last June to lead the investigation, had already charged five people before arresting two men last Friday evening.
Following the arrests, detectives raided two homes – a unit in Liverpool where they allegedly located and seized a revolver, a replica glock 22, a taser, nun chucks, prohibited drugs and items consistent with the manufacture of prohibited drugs, and a home in Edwin Street, Regents Park where they allegedly seized the machine gun.
A 34-year-old man was charged with an outstanding warrant for possessing or using a prohibited weapon without a permit and possessing a prohibited drug, and 62-year-old charged with possessing an unauthorised firearm.
Investigations under Strike Force Shaula continue.
