Barking sad after big loss

BULLDOGS coach Cameron Ciraldo described their 66-0 loss to the Knights Accor Stadium on Sunday as “embarrassing”.

The Bulldogs have now conceded 173 points in their past four games and their points differential of -220 is the worst in the competition.
Halfback Matt Burton was placed on report in the 78th minute for a hip drop tackle, with the Bulldogs missing 66 tackles compared to 13 by the Knights.
Burton had been trying his best but his teammates weren’t helping his Origin hopes.
But they were only really missing Viliame Kikau and Luke Thompson on Sunday and were down 30-0 at half time with more bark in the second half but to no avail on the scoreboard.
Ciraldo said it was one of those games where the harder they tried, the worse it got.
“Any time they came down our end of the field they just capitalised,” he said.
“It was a very tough day but there will be some lessons in there for the whole team and the young guys in particular.
“It’s important that we stick together and learn those lessons and be better next week.
“It’s an embarrassing moment, it’s a disappointing moment. We knew things would be hard at different times this year but probably not this hard.”
The Bulldogs will take on the Rabbitohs this Saturday at Accor Stadium in the annual ‘Mortimer-McCarthy Cup’, which acknowledges the contribution that Souths great Bob McCarthy and Canterbury legends Steve, Chris and Peter Mortimer have made to their clubs, to rugby league and to the Family of League.
