First up are the Kids Dumpling Workshops where children, aged four and over, can get into the Lunar New Year spirit and learn the traditional art of dumpling making with four sessions a day from January 23-28.
The council will supply everything the young participants need including fresh food cooking equipment and materials.
On offer opposite Tong Li Supermarket, the 30-minute sessions (11-11.30am, 11.45am-12.15pm, 12.30-1pm and 1.15-1.45pm) are free but bookings are essential via Eventbrite.
Then kick off the weekend of celebrations on Friday, February 3, 5-9pm, and enjoy Sunset Cinema at Wyatt Park with a free movie alongside a variety of food trucks offering a range of food available for purchase.
Head to Auburn Central on Saturday, February 4, 6-9pm, for a Lunar New Year performance showcase including lantern-making, delicious Asian treats, lion dancing and more.
Festivities conclude at Berala Community Centre on Sunday, February 5, 10am-12noon, where you can enjoy a relaxed morning of kids art and craft, and connection with community.
Help friends and Cumberland community organisations celebrate Lunar New Year together and enjoy lion dancing into the main street of Berala.
Mayor Lisa Lake said she was really looking forward to welcoming in the Lunar New Year with the Cumberland community.
“This festive program of film, performance and events will bring us all together for feasting, fun and celebration of life,” she said.
