With the first annual intake kicking off in January, the course is fully funded and covers the whole beauty gamut – from waxing, facials, lash, brows and massages, to make-up, tanning, manicures and pedicures.
Monique founded The Hair and Beauty Academy in Penrith 20 years ago before selling the award-winning business in 2016, with the majority of her students going on to run successful businesses as well as teaching positions in various colleges.
A keen student herself having experienced all sides of education, Monique also holds a Certificate IV in Training and Assessment and a Certificate IV in Business.
After joining the not-for-profit PCC in 2017 and now establishing the Beauty Training Centre, she is determined to produce high quality therapists with a strong entrepreneurship focus.
“I also plan to add hairdressing and introduce apprenticeships and traineeships aa well as cleaning up the lash extension industry,” she said.
“We are not only helping new beauty entrepreneurs but many lash therapists who have only been trained in salons, are coming to us to get qualified and also for insurance purposes.”
With state-of-the-art equipment and a simulated salon once a week where the public come in for services, PCC’s Beauty Training Centre students are able to get experience on the job.
“PCC also supports work placement even though it is not mandatory, with students covered under our insurance and we expect 90 per cent of work placements will turn into jobs,” Monique said.
“Our Beauty Diploma is entrepreneurship-focused and we also have specialised trainers in for specialty units such as marketing using social media platforms.”
The fully-funded course is subsidised by the NSW Government and eligibility criteria apply.
