Arrest man in kidnap probe

A MAN arrested during a police raid on a Lidcombe property has been charged as investigations continue into an alleged home invasion and kidnapping earlier this year.

The 31-year-old man was charged with conspiracy to commit offence in company, robbery while armed with dangerous weapon, special aggravated break and enter, commit serious indictable offence-weapon, and participating in a criminal group contributing to criminal activity.
The home was among 11 raided by police during the early morning operation last Wednesday.
About 9.20pm on Monday, September 26, two men allegedly forced entry to the second-storey bedroom of a home in Caddens, where they threatened a 29-year-old man with a handgun.
The man was able to free himself before he ran from the property and the two men left in a grey hatchback with another two men.
The State Crime Command’s Robbery and Serious Crime Squad formed Strike Force Ghinni and as part of ongoing inquiries, detectives also commenced an investigation into the alleged kidnapping of a man last month.
Police have been told about 1.20pm on Wednesday, October 12, the man was approached by four males – one of which was armed with a handgun – in a carpark on Morrison Road, Ryde. He was allegedly assaulted and taken in a vehicle to an unknown location, where he was threatened and assaulted further. He has since recovered from his injuries.
During the warrants, officers allegedly seized a number of items including three firearms, a machete, ammunition, more than $30,000 cash, two vehicles and mobile phones, which will undergo forensic examination.
Two men aged 29 and 32, and a 17-year-old boy arrested during the raids, have also been charged.
