The collection features exclusive print collaborations with artists Gunjan Aylawadi and Louise Zhang, as well as the 12 young refugees and new migrant community at Fairfield High School’s Intensive English Centre.
An integral part of the Newtown community since launching in 2014 and now located at 188 King Street, Newtown, ‘The Social Outfit’ aims to empower individuals from refugee and new migrant communities through employment, education and training opportunities.
“With community support from some of Australia’s leading fashion designers, we are able to divert excess and unused textiles otherwise headed to landfill to make our collections each season and we even carried this sustainability story throughout our recent store fit-out,” Founder Jackie Ruddock said.
The new store front sees a combination of sustainable and recyclable materials to complement the bold and colourful collections that the label has become synonymous with.
