The South Sudan team have been crowned the 2022 Multicultural Communities World Cup Football Tournament Champions after they defeated Thailand 5-2 in a nail-biting grand final match at Rydalmere Park.
This six-week tournament comprised 24 teams representing Afghanistan, Australia, Burkina Faso, Brazil, Colombia, Egypt, France, Guinea, Iraq, Lebanon, Morocco, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Palestine, San Marino, Somalia, South Sudan, Spain, Syria, Thailand, Tunisia, Turkey and Yemen.
AAFA President Abaker Athum said it was an amazing grand final day with impressive performances and special guests including State Member for Granville, Julia Finn, and Cumberland Councillors Ola Hamed and Glenn Elmore.
“We are grateful for all the support from sponsors, club representatives and the communities we have received this year,” he said.
“We look forward to expanding from 24 to 32 teams next year and welcome all multicultural communities to join us.”
